Wildlife Artist in Residence for RZSS

tigerHWP

I was prompted to start this bog as I was recently lucky enough to be appointed Wildlife Artist in Residence for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. The society includes Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park at Kingussie, both places I had visited before but not for some time and it was clear from the outset that both have changed and developed significantly over the past few years.

In this blog I will share some of my thoughts and experiences, along with some information about various ongoing projects at the society, as well as of course the artwork that I produce throughout my time in the post. I am one of a whole group of people to have been appointed residencies at RZSS recently, including a beekeeper, an organic chef, a silversmith, a story teller and a paleontologist to name just a few. The society seems to be broadening its horizons, perhaps taking a more holistic view, and I am excited to be a part of this fresh, positive movement.
